This property has a high percentage of government and military guests who are prohibited for security reasons from using the wireless Internet. The network infrastructure in the property was an outdated and slow EtherSplit technology that shared the telephone wiring between the phones and a 10MBPS Ethernet system. This was slow and a continual source of complaints. When the franchise updated their HSIA standards it was plain that the property had to improve their guest's Internet experience. They chose DSL. Re-cabling the property would be costly and require a major guest-interfering remodel. DSL provided the same outcome without the guest-interfering remodel by using the existing telephone cabling to deliver high speed wired Internet to their guest rooms.
